Crisis Response

When sudden or distressing events happen in our lives (the death of a loved one or coworker, natural disasters, violence or the threat of violence, etc), it is important to acknowledge the events, recognize the body's natural responses to these events, and learn healthy stress management skills to maintain mental health.  This is done through a process called Critical Incident Stress Management or Disruptive Event Management.

Crisis Response is not therapy, and when individuals participate in a CISM or DEM session as soon as possible after the event, they are much less likely to need therapy as a result of the event.
